The most frequent asked question I am asked is about space. How to create the feeling of a spacious room working with a small room. A lot of people use bright white to paint the walls , it is true that lighter colours give a feeling of space but can often make a room feel cold. However a too creamy white can make a room feel closed and unclean. I would recommend a slight off white to keep a room feeling welcoming and warm but help to create the illusion of space. Smaller rooms are best with straight lined furniture for example straight cupboards and storage. Dark finely built furniture also helps the illusion of more space. Avoid using thick chunky furniture in small rooms.

Another tip I would recommend trying is looking at furniture shapes. For example if you have a small rectangular dining room opt for a rectangular table . See my images attached- I have taken a room lifted the colours of the walls and set a rectangle dark spindle style wooden carved table and chairs. Clear glass objects also help , the light passes through showing other parts of the room. Try and keep surfaces clutter free . You can always introduce a touch of colour in small areas by adding flowers or a picture to turn a room slightly warmer if you feel you have gone too light with your wall colour and feel clinical.
